The Oceanside Library is a busy (privately funded) public library with an enormous amount of content and online resources that they needed to make available to their patrons. Hundreds of online databases and learning/study resources needed to be organized and categorized into an easy-to-use directory that the general public could quickly search, filter, and sort through. Electric Bricks built a sophisticated content organization system that made it simple for staff to organize and add any number of resources, all while giving the end-user a simple and elegant way to quickly find the things they’re looking for.
There also needed to be a simple way to search through the literally hundreds of thousands of books in the Nassau County library system (ALIS) where patrons could find and reserve a title.
And finally, the site also needed to easily display the many library programs available to patrons by incorporating a dynamic calendar feed shared by all Nassau County libraries, as well as an attractive homepage carousel display of Oceanside-specific programs and events.
For the design and layout, the library was looking for a clean, uncluttered interface that wouldn’t distract or get in the way of the patron’s need to do their research.
